A Day at Sun & Wave

Here’s a gentle look at how we spend our day together:


8:30 – 9:15 AM  Arrival & Free Play                                                                 

Children start the day with free play. If the weather is nice, we play outdoors; if not, we enjoy activities indoors. Gentle hellos, cuddles, and quiet connection time.

9:15 – 9:30 AM   Morning Music                                                               

Songs,  dancings and sharing time — helping us come together as a group.

9:30 – 10:00 AM   Morning Snack                                                           

A healthy snack is served, giving us energy for the day.

10:00 – 10:15 AM    Diapering / Toileting 

​10:15 – 10:50 AM Circle Time(Bilingual)Guided group time with a seasonal or child-led theme — stories, songs, science, early math, or creative exploration.

10:50 – 11:45   AM   Outdoor Play / Nature Walk                                         

Fresh air, exploring the yard or nearby nature spots, running, digging,  and discovering.

11:45 – 12:30 PM   Lunch (brought from home)                                           

Children enjoy lunch in a calm, social setting.

12:30 – 12:40 PM  Diapering / Toileting

12:40 —12:50 PM Story Time & Wind Down. A cozy transition into nap with books and soft music.

12:50 – 2:20 PM     Rest Time / Quiet Play                                                   

Naps for those who need them, quiet books or soft toys for non-nappers.

2:20 – 2:30 PM      Wake-Up & Diapering / Toileting                                                

Gentle transitions from rest with stretching, water,  and quiet activities.

2:30 – 3:00 PM     Afternoon Snack                                                             

Another nourishing snack to end the day feeling full and cared  for.

3:00 – 3:30 PM    Outdoor Play & Pick-Up                                                 

Children choose their favorite way to end the day.

Sun & Wave Child Care – Fee Information

 

We offer care for children aged 1.5to 5 years old.
We have been approved for the BC Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative (CCFRI).

Our monthly fees after CCFRI (Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative) are:

Under 3 years old: $800 
Aged 3 to 5: $700 

Our tuition rates are currently under review with the BC government’s CCFRI program to ensure families can access available fee reductions. Final rates will be confirmed once the approval process is complete.

The fee includes two healthy snacks each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

If your child has any dietary restrictions, we’re happy to work with you to meet their needs.

Need Help with Child Care Fees?

Families may qualify for the Affordable Child Care Benefit (ACCB) — a monthly payment from the BC government to help cover the cost of child care.Both full-time and part-time cares can apply for this program.

How much support you can receive depends on your household income, family size, and the type of care you choose.

Even if you're not sure you qualify, it’s worth checking — many families are surprised to learn they are eligible!

When will Sun & Wave Child Care open?
Sun & Wave will officially open in September 2025.

Can I visit before deciding?
Yes! Visits are welcome, but please book an appointment in advance. For safety reasons, we cannot accept drop-in visits


What languages will be used?
English and Mandarin are naturally integrated into songs, routines, and story time.


Do you offer part-time care?

Yes, We offer part-time care for 2 or 3 days only. These spots must be combined with other families to make a full-time schedule, so we cannot offer 1-day or 4-day options.

How is the fee calculated for part-time care?
For part-time children, fees are calculated daily.
   •    Ages 1.5–3: $40 per day
   •    Ages 3–5: $35 per day

Fees are invoiced monthly based on your selected schedule.

What items need to be prepared for the child?

Essentials Checklist (Please label all items):

  • Spare clothes (top, bottom, socks, underwear)

  • Indoor shoes or non-slip grip socks ( Safety and comfort come first)

  • Labeled water bottle

  • Nut-free lunch in a ready-to-eat lunch bag

  • Sunscreen (optional)

  • Diapers/pull-ups and wipes (if needed)

  • Comfort item (optional, e.g., blanket or toy)

  • Rain gear for outdoor play: Muddy Buddy or rain jacket & pants, rain boots
